Poor little duckling!!!

I grew up on a small holding about 30km outside Port Elizabeth, Greenbushes. That was some childhood. Was a real tomboy. Climbing trees, catching animals to keep as my pets, swimming in our dam (because we did not have a swimming pool then). I went to the farm school. The bus would pick me up infront of my house and drop me off again in the afternoon.

Once I caught a wild duckling on our dam. Still today I cant remember how I actually did catch the little duckling. It was only a few days old, it still had the little sharp edge on his beak to crack the egg open (don't know what you call it)Put it became my pet. Cant remember what I called it.
I used a baby bath for him in the day to swim in while I was in school and in the afternoons I will take him to one of the smaller dams for a swim and to eat plankton in the water. I even took him to school the one day for a oral. I only had him for a week. My little sister was about 4 years old and stayed with the maid in the day. On the Friday afternoon when I came home I found my little duckling pet floating in the baby bath. I started crying. I went to my little sister and asked her what happened to my pet. So she said she only played with him by pushing him under the water, she wanted to see how he swims under water.

My sister drowned my little duckling.

I've just seen your request for help on Reluctant Nomad's site.
As regards uploading photos, ir you go to the New Posts section on Blogger, there is a tiny blue icon on the toolbar just above the text box. Press this to get onto the photo section. Ideally you should reduce your photos in size to 100kb or less, to speed up the uploading.
As regards putting on a list of blogs you like, there is very helpful advice in the "Help" section in Blogger. Go to New Post > Template > Edit Template, and have a look at the HTML code towards the bottom of the HTML page... to look for the links area, to see how it's done. Substitute the existing links with your own (and do some copying and pasting to create more templates you can work on). Then Save/Publish what you've done, have a look at the your blog (you may have to press the Refresh button a few times to see any changes), and go back to the Template to alter it, as required.
Contact me via my blog if you get stuck (or if you wish to put a photo of yourself on the site in the Profile section).

Further note from me .... first of all to say, I'm sory to hear about your duckling. Several of my pets died or went missing when I was a kid and a teenager. So I can appreciate how you felt.

Coming back to your Blogger problem, another approach is to find someone's blog (eg my home page) and have a look at the HTML code with a view to copying it. Simply do a right mouse click on the webpage, select "View Source", scroll down through the code to find the links section, and then either copy & paste it onto a Word Document for closer inspection, etc, or copy & paste it straight into your HTML code (at the right place and then modify it). Save/Publish and then view it.

Just above the links section in the HTML on my page is the section on "My Profile", in which you'll see a web/URL address for my little photo. I put a larger version of this photo on my blog a few weeks ago, and by searching for the HTML code for it (as above), I was then able to transfer this info into the "My Profile" section, which you can find on the "Dashboard". Hope all this is of some help.

I had a little kitten that just vanished when I was about 9. I remember searching for it for days that my folks eventually had to confine me to my room because I was combing and searching the forrest behind our house. There were many poachers around who used to set traps for animals. We once had to remove our neighbors dog from one of those wire traps. He didn't survive it. We must get together then I will show you how to do the links and photos!!!! I am serious!!!!!!

There are some more ideas on how to get photos and animation onto Blogger, in the Comments box for Thursday 9 March at Andrea's site, "Colouring Outside The Lines". There's a link to her site on my own site and on Reluctant Nomad's.

Oh no! That's so sad, even if she didn't mean it. But here's a happy story for you... one day, driving in a heavily congested area I found a goose-baby. (Yes, I know the term is 'gosling' but goose-baby is much cuter, humor me.) So I caught it (they are sooo fast) and put it in my purse and drove it home. I filled a large bin with water and let it swim, then took it out and just help it, trying to figure out what to do. The light bulb went on above my head and back in my purse it went. I drove to the large company across the street where I found it and convinced the guards to let me in and showed them the goose-baby. They thought I was crazy but apparently harmless so they let me in. Inside the gate, there's a huge pond and hundreds of goose families. I walked as close as I could and let it go... there was much honking (or whatever they do) and the little one ran straight to an adult who was immediately doting over it. Either I just found 'mom' or a goose that was happy to adopt. See, happy ending. But then I cried because I missed it... =)
